DeFi wallets connection failures and workarounds

Why do I need a DeFi wallet connection to my Axon account?

Essentially, the Instant Wallet within your Axon account is controlled by a DeFi wallet of your choosing, which we refer to as a Holding wallet. Each time you attempt to execute a transaction within your Instant wallet, your Holding wallet has to sign it preliminary as a form of approval which makes the whole process trustless and in your control at any time.

List of supported wallets with known issues

  • Existing difficulties with MetaMask’s wallet

  • Ledger's direct connection

  • Zerion's signing prompt delay

Root cause of current failures

At the moment there are known technical issues related to Wallet Connect’s integration with some DeFi wallets, causing connectivity failures. Further details can be found here - https://github.com/WalletConnect/WalletConnectFlutterV2/discussions/287

Possible courses of action

Connect another supported wallet

You can choose another wallet to connect from the list of supported wallets.

Important to note: Your Instant wallet can have only one Holding wallet. Hence, the new DeFi app you choose to connect should be with the same wallet.

Known workarounds

Ledger

You can connect your Ledger to MetaMask by following the steps in the article

MetaMask

In case you wish to proceed using MetaMask, the current workaround we found is the following:

  1. After successfully executing a transaction, go to MetaMask’s Settings

  2. Select Experimental

  3. Tap on View sessions

  4. Press and hold the session appearing there

  5. Tap on End session

  6. Kill the app before going back to your Axon app
